Fatherhood Friday's

Busy busy busy. We've been so busy at home, at work that I'm doing a short post today becasue, well I'm busy! Why does it always seem like every summer we are so busy. The weeks just fly by and before we know it we are right back to winter. Between projects, weddings and our normal chores around the house it seems the summer just passes us by. I don’t like this at all! My idea of summer is sitting out by the pool, relaxing, and playing around the house with the boys. I hope that we can get some of our projects finished up and we can get back to the nice relaxing lifestyle that summers are supposed to be like!

Have a great weekend...we'll be busy!

This is how we spent our weekend...

...lounging around together
...watching Sesame Street and snuggling in blankets.
Jackson liked not having his shirt on...
...he also liked it when I tickled him
...and Joel kept patting his tummy all weekend indicating that he was hungry...ALL THE TIME!
Oh and you can probably tell but they got haircuts last Friday...and screamed and cried the whole time! Oh well, the end result is all I cared about and they sure look handsome!
Saturday night Jon and the guys took my tickets that I'd gotten from my work for the Iowa Barnstormer's football game and they made a guys night out of it by tailgating before the game and then going to bars afterwards. The girls and little boys all played at our house and had a yummy supper. After we put the kids to bed we watched a movie, chatted and drank wine...what a perfect night!

Last weekend was sooo nice to not have anything to do! All our cleaning and grocery shopping was done on Friday (a new ritual for me) which made the weekend all the more plesant. This weekend and next weekend, well every weekend from here until the end of May, will be SUPER busy, no time for breathing!!

I was...

...home with this little guy yesterday. He threw up at daycare 3 times, not sure why and when we got home I got out a bowl and said, "Now Joel, if you need to throw up you do it in here," then I made a gagging/puking sound to demonstrate what he should do cause I knew he was understanding every word I said...NOT! Well he didn't get sick for me at all and was sooo happy to have a whole day with non-stop Sesame Street and his mama all to himself, ya know cause he was sick and he should get to do whatever he wants, right? So he would carry around his bowl and look at me and smile and then make a "AHHHAAHHH" scream/gag sound into the bowl just like I showed him! It was so cute! We did have a good day though, lots of sitting around snuggling since the weather was so gloomy.

we're having a mommy and Joel day at home...if you're wondering about the bowl, I'll fill you in tomorrow if don't already know.

More flower pictures and editing...

I took these the other night mostly in the sun of our flowering crab tree that is really beautiful right now and then of course made them even better in Photoshop Lightroom

Tulips Before & After

I asked my neighbor if I could take pictures of her tulips and she gave me a weird look and I told her I was practicing and she smiled and said "SURE!" So I went over and laid on the ground by her tulips and snapped away. I got some neat shots but I like even more what I did in Lightroom. Here are just some of the things I can do in Lightroom to add pop to color and give a picture an old-fashioned look(2nd collage middle picture).

Fatherhood Friday's

Our lives are constantly changing some for the good and some for the bad. We also have many hurdles we face in our everyday lives. Some of our challenges that we face are simple and others are life changing. Everyone has the common bad day at work or the stupid little argument with their wife. We all have kids that get sick and are cranky or when we get sick and we are cranky. The way we all handle these issues are also different. Some people sleep, some eat, other drink and some people do nothing.

I used to be one of those people that would do nothing just keep it all inside and maybe the next day it will be gone. Before kids that problem usually was gone the next day. I love my kids and I love waking up in the morning and the first thing I see is them, even if they are crying and mad and head butt you in the mouth first thing in the morning. So far with this nice weather I have found a new way of getting rid of these changes that all of us are going through. Our family loves to be outside and I have found that this is a great stress reliever for me as well as the rest of the family. This summer is going to be great for our family and a lot less stressful with the nice weather. I am just not looking forward to this winter if it is anything like last winter.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

It's that time of year...

...the time for a Popsicle in the sun and playing in the water!

My mom made a surprise visit Monday night and brought over strawberry bars for the boys. They started with sharing 1 between the 3 of them...
...that didn't last long becuase Jackson wanted his own to hold.
{Jackson, Nana and Joel}
Jackson did share his bar with Nana...
....while Joel shared his with Daddy and they each ate a whole fruit bar!
Then they found the hose and the fun began!
Jackson thought it was funny to spray Joel
We kept telling Jackson to take a drink....
...he finally got it figured out!
After all the fun outside and some cold hands they striped down and came inside and snuggled under a blanket with Nana until Mama could get their jammies out.
I'm sure we will have A LOT more nights of playing in the water and eating Popsicles outside!

We have the BEST 2 helpers ever!! Jackson loved to scoop dirt into my pots for me as I planted my flowers...and some into his mouth!
Joel tried to wear my gloves when I wasn't wearing them. AND he was also guilty of "tasting" some dirt hence the open mouth!
Jackson liked helping Jon plant the tomatoes and peppers in the garden. He has his arm up as if he's shielding the sun like a pro!
He liked to carry around the empty containers
Notice Sophie...she's also "helping"!
Jackson kept pretending to water the stuff that Jon had just planted
Jackson getting ready to smooth the dirt out in the garden.
It is soo nice this year being able to be outside with the boys and letting them play on their slides, with their lawn toys, or even help us and not have to hold them the whole time!!
