The other night the boys wanted into the fridge so I opened the door them and they spotted my apples. Of course they didn't want me to cut it in half so they could share so they each stood while a movie was on and ate the whole thing!! Jackson kept bringing us "ick part" so we could throw it away so I had to explain to him that he didn't have to eat the entire apple!

Weekend Recap

The weekend started off on Friday night with me at 2 photo sessions. Jon and the boys had supper and played at home while I was gone. When I got home we snuggled on the couch and headed up for bed. I was sooo tired from a week of getting up early and working out at 4:20, which I've started doing again since I need my lunch hour to work on pictures, and staying up late that I just couldn't stay up past 9:30 or work on any pictures! So Jon and I caught up on some of our shows from the week while relaxing in bed. I think we both fell asleep before we got through one show!

Jon woke up at 3:30 to get ready to head to Iowa City for the game. The boys and I slept until 6:45 and then got up and got ready for the day. My mom picked us up and we headed downtown to the Farmer's Market, in the rain. Not fun, but we got the things we needed and had breakfast, the boys loved the egg rolls! We headed to the craft show and did a little shopping there, we were both excited for the first craft show of the year. This was the first time I've taken the boys to a craft show and they were very good. I think they liked looking at all the people.

After the craft show we headed out to Jordan Creek for more shopping. I bought the boys an entire fall/winter line of clothes it seemed like! Got some great deals at Baby Gap, a place I rarely shop since it's so expensive let alone when shopping for two and a cute outfit for them to wear to a wedding we have coming up. Now to find some black shoes and tennis shoes for them and I think they'll be set! We stopped at a few more places omitting naps but they were troopers and didn't even try and rest in the car. We got home at 5:30 (left the house at 7:30), had breakfast for supper, my favorite and then I got the boys ready for bed.

Jon got a free ticket to the Iowa State game so he went straight from Iowa City to Ames to tailgate and watch the game with Andy, Bryce and Meggie. I worked down in the basement until 10 on cleaning and organizing and getting all my studio lights put together and then I put up all our Halloween/Fall decorations. I love how the house looks and smells right now!! I crawled into bed at midnight and for the second night in a row didn't work on any pictures...but I had other stuff I needed to catch up on!

Sunday brought my day to sleep in and then two photo sessions in the morning. I got home at 10:30 and Jon headed out to run errands. He mowed and aerated the yard and got me some flooring from Menards to use as props. While the boys were sleeping I squeezed in a photo session of a baby boy at our house. Ben and Brynna stopped by to say hi while Kyli worked in her classroom. Jon headed over to Ben's so he could aerate his yard and then took the trailer and mower back to my parents house. Since he wasn't home by 4:45 I took the boys to my last two photo sessions of the day. It's a good thing I was taking pictures for my friend Kari and her family and she didn't mind my boys being there because they cried the entire 40 minutes I was shooting! Jon came to save the day and I was able to finish my last session with Bryce and Meggie in peace. We picked up pizza for supper and got the boys to bed at 7:45 and we went to be shortly after.

Lots of projects and things around the house didn't get done this weekend but that happens sometimes and I know Jon had a great time at both games on Saturday and I needed a day out of the house with my mom and the boys to do some shopping.

Hope everyone had a great weekend as well! We're already looking forward to the next one!

Brynna the model

So I wanted to share with you some pictures of my cute niece, Brynna Addison. She was a model for my photography session last night so I wanted to share a few pictures on here before I post more on my photography site in a few days.

So as I said last night I had the opportunity to do some product photography. A wonderful mom who lives in Ankeny has an Etsy shop and she makes these ADORABLE shirts and bloomers! I so have to get me some of this stuff but first I need a little girl!! Well I kinda little adorable niece, Brynna, helped me last night by modeling! She was sooo good and looked as cute as ever! Erin and I decided to barter and the entire outfit that Brynna is wearing including the tutu was made for her and is hers to keep!

Is she not the cutest Hawkeye fan? And look at this cute bum...*squeal*!!!!

So we posed Brynna on her tummy for all of the pictures to get the perfect shot of her cute little booty!
And this for Christmas...caauute!! Erin said she'd make me a few more basic pieces to have for my studio so I'm excited about that, maybe I'll get something like this!
Yes I know the "A" doesn't fit but it was made for Erin's daughter, Addyson and was part of the outfit for Brynna to wear.
Brynna's last modeling outfit was this cute 4th of July piece. A "Little Firecracker"
Brynna loved the tutu material and kept tasting it! So besides these outfits she did a number of bum shots that showcased Halloween items along with many others.
This was such a fun experience for me and I really look forward to working with Erin again in a few months. Also, thank you to Kyli for allowing Brynna to come along and model for me...she's a natural and was so easy!

I got all the stuff for my studio last week and the boys...well they enjoyed the giant boxes that stuff came in!
They enjoyed having this be their little "house"

If you ask the boys what they are doing here they'll say "build, build buildin' mama"
They sure are quite the little builders it's so fun to watch them put stuff together in their mind
Joel worked so hard on making a long "build"

Fatherhood Friday's

The boys have been into jumping this week and I've been working in the garage hanging shelving so there have been boards for them to jump off of in the garage.

I hope everyone has a good weekend! We'll be busy around the house this weekend as Jennifer told you yesterday. Go Hawkeyes!

Love, Jon/Dada

An Update

So it has been awhile since I posted about what is going on with me but if you follow my photography website you have seen I've been busy!! Here is a look at my schedule this week!

Newborn photo session at 5:30-7:30PM

Photoshop class from 5:30-8:30PM -go straight from work

Photo session at 5:30PM - go straight from work

Photo session at 6:00PM - go straight from work

Photo session at 4:30PM - go straight from work

Photo session at 9:00, 10:00AM, and 4:00PM

Photo session at 8:00AM (newborn), 10:00AM, and 5:00PM (senior girl)

So this is pretty much how my September and October will be as people get ready to send out Christmas cards. And the best part I am SOO HAPPY and LOVING every minute!! Sure I may be up until 1AM almost every night and up early trying to finish previews and get CDs out in a weeks time. But gosh, what a dream I'm living!

Also on our weekend to-do list besides the above is to clean all our carpets including the carpet in the basement, get paint to paint the hallway to the basement and a couple walls in the basement for my studio. Jon is also finishing up hanging shelves in the garage and trying to help me with my projects as much as possible.

Jon has been a huge support for me and has been spending a lot of quality time with his boys this week. He LOVES it and the boys love it! The boys...they are both doing great. They must be going through a growth spurt as Jackson ate 4 hot dogs for supper one night this week and Joel at 5 pieces of homemade pizza! Joel also is getting a little cold and is very congested in the evenings. Poor guy I hate when they are sick!

On another note every night the boys want to sit on the potty befor they get into the bath tub. They usually go pee-pee but some times the minute they get sat and hold their penis down they say "all done" and want in the bath tub. Last night, Jackson asked to sit on the potty like usual and he peed like normal. We gave high fives and let him flush it down, etc. etc. Then he said, "eck, eck" and wanted back up on the potty. So I sat him back up there and he tooted and then out pooped this....
Yeah it's just a baby one, huh? But how cute. Jackson had his first poppy and tried to wipe himself when he was done. He was pretty proud and flushed him right down and said, "eck, all done!" We aren't formally potty training yet, although they are showing interest I just don't think they are ready in all aspect yet. We'll probably wait until this winter when I'm off work for a week and hit it hard then.

So that's an update of our week. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Go Hawks!

Jon headed to Iowa City on Friday night to get an early start at partying...he would say so they could get to their tailgating spot early but we all know he wanted to have some fun Friday night too! And since he was gone for the game the boys and I headed over to Bryce & Meggie's, our neighbors, to cheer on the Hawkeyes! Well, Meggie would say they were cheering on the Cyclones but not much cheering going on in that house after a few minutes in...better luck next year! We had a good time chatting and catching up and the boys had a fun time playing with each other!

{Jackson hardly put down this vacuum at one point I told Meggie we might have to make the batteries disappear!}
{Jackie sure will make a good husband some day as much cleaning as he does!}

Farmer's Market

On Saturday morning mom, the boys and I, and Kyli and Brynna all headed down to the Farmer's Market. This was the first time I'd been this year. We had a yummy breakfast and walked around and looked at all the wonderful stuff. The kids were all so good. The boys rode in their stoller but also enjoyed walking around and Miss Brynna didn't make a peep the whole time we were there!

Fatherhood Friday's

There is a new love in our house. The boys have always been fascinated with dogs but last weekend it was taken to a new level. We have free movie channels so we have been taping all kinds of movies and we got a good one here. BOLT. Wow, I have never seen the boys or any kids want to watch something so bad. All they ever talk about is the dogs, we turn it on while getting them dressed the morning, when we get home from work and while they are getting ready for bed. When we pick them up from daycare the first thing they say is “DOG”. We also have the Monsters Inc. movie and they like that one but not as much as Bolt. They even wake up first thing in the morning and say "dog"! It's soo funny! I must admit it has been kind of nice not having to watch Sesame Street all week.

Thompson Reunion

On Saturday the boys and I headed up to Maxwell while Jon was at the football game to go to the Thompson Family reunion. We had a fun time the highlight for the boys...eating the frosting off the cake!

{Nana tickling the boys...Joel smiling}
Nana is teaching Joel how to do "eye winker, eye tinker, nose smeller, mouth chewer, chin chopper, get you in the giszy whopper!" (anyone know that little rhyme??? I remember my mom used to do that to me when I was little!) They LOVE that and thought it was fun to do it to each other!
This is my Grandma's sister, Olive Dodd and then my Grandma and my mom
We had a quick trip, had lunch and then came home and the boys took naps. It was a fun time going up to see some family!

New haircuts

I thought the boys' hair was getting a little fuzzy so I wanted to get their haircut but gosh everyone is so miserable when we go to the salon so Jon suggested I just do it and use our clippers at home. So I did...and it turned out well and NO ONE cried!! They were happy to have their haircut and liked helping hold the cord and feeling the clippers vibrate.

{Jackson's hair before, Joel's after}

I think I found something else I can do too...cut their hair, well for now until they start caring how good I do!
