Thanksgiving 2010

We started our Thanksgiving celebrations on Thursday at my Grandma Schauper's NEW house in Maxwell! It is so nice in there and she had all the food going and smelling wonderfully! We told all of our extended family that we were expecting twins again so they were all excited to hear our news. We had a great lunch and there was a lot of leftovers! The hit of the afternoon was the sno cone machine that my mom brought in! The boys and Owen loved it!

We left my Gram's around 2:45 and headed to Marshalltown to have supper with Jon's family. We got there around 3:30 and the boys napped in the car until 4:30 and everyone started getting there and we shared our news once again with his family. Everyone just couldn't believe it and was so excited for us! We had a great supper with all the fixings and stuffed ourselves once again. I managed to sneak in a nap or 2 since I was heading out shopping later that evening. There are so many kids these days at our get togethers on Jon's side. 9 of them to be exact and there will soon be 2 more we'll add to the mix in the spring!

We had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving with all our families and we have SOOO much to be thankful for, God is sooo good!

Oh yes....you read that right (oh and Joel had the same secret but you get the point!)

I am about 14 weeks and my due date is June 2, 2011 but full-term for twins is 36 weeks (I carried the boys to 37 weeks 5 days before being induced) so that puts these babies here beginning to middle of May! I've been feeling wonderfully (which is TOTALLY different from my pregnancy with the boys it's like I don't even know I'm pregnant with twins! But that's a different post for another day!)

We are SOOOOO excited....Jon and I both secretly wanted twins again but NEVER thought it would happen as the chances are slim to none, about 1 in 70,000 (if these babies are identical) and 1 in 10,000 (if these babies are fraternal) to be exact! So about like be struck by lightening especially since Jackson and Joel are identical which means they happened by chance. So we're thrilled to be having our second set of spontaneous twins! My doctor said he hasn't seen 2 sets of spontaneous twins since the early 80's! Guess that makes us pretty lucky and REALLY BLESSED!

So what this means is lots of belly updates, updates on the new babies, lots of ultrasound pictures as I usually have one each visit, and updates on how we're going to go from a family of 4 to a family of 6 with 4 kids 2 and under financially, emotionally and functionally of course in addition to updates and pictures of Jackson and Joel and other happenings in our lives.

So stay tuned!

Come back...

...at 9AM when I have my blog post ready...you'll be happy you did!

An update on my Gram

Just wanted to let everyone know that after my Grandma's house fire in June and livig with my Aunt and Uncle my Grandma's house is FINALLY done and she was brought home on Saturday! Just a week and a half ago she had a massive heart attack and had to have a stint procedure she was in the hospital for a week and then spent a few days at Rolling Green Nursing Home in Nevada. She is feeling great an loves her new home. She is excited to get all her strength back and resume her normal day-t0-day life. My mom and dad have spent hours and hours in there painting and organizing and cleaning and putting things together. We are all so excited to go up and spend Thanksgiving together in her new home. It's been a long time coming and we're all so thankful for everything she has been given and we're all so blessed to have her still in our lives!

I've got nothin'

I don't really have anything to blog about today. I didn't take any pictures of the boys this weekend. Maybe tomorrow I'll be a little more prepared for a blog post but today, I've got nothin'! Have a great Monday!

Fatherhood Friday's

I'm a little late getting a post up today better late than never! Well I'm so glad I got the Christmas lights up last weekend, they look great and this weekend isn't going to be so nice. I seem to have a long to-do list for the weekend so I'll get everything checked off...I'm sure Jen will make sure of it! Unfortunately, the boys have a cold and are pretty whiny the last few nights. Luckily, they've been sleeping well, I'm sure the Robitussin and Motrin help with that! We're also looking forward to spending some time with family this weekend and hopefully another Hawkeye win!

Have a great weekend!
Love, Jon/DADA

Piggys!

Last Thursday Grandma and Grandpa came up and saw the boys since they missed out on Trick-or-Treat. They brought up a few fun things for them for Halloween which included a bunch of change to put in their piggy banks! The boys LOVE their piggy banks and every night before we go to bed they say "kiss piggy" and we kiss the noses of the piggys and say night night. So they were sooo excited that they got to put money in their piggy banks. That was a good 15-30 minutes of entertainment for them!

Tagging our Christmas Tree

On the opening weekend of the tree farm we headed over to Bondurant to Rettig's Tree Farm and off we went! It was such a beautiful weekend we were so glad we got out there when we did! As always, the tree we ended up with was the first one we found!

Fatherhood Friday's

Hey! I get a weekend at home this weekend! It seems like with football games, weddings and baptisms we are gone 1 weekend day and sometimes part of another. This weekend is going to be great since we should be home both Saturday and Sunday. Of course, we still have a list of stuff that needs to get done this weekend since it is one of the weekends that I will be home both days and Jen has pictures but that's a given. The big project is going to be getting all of our outside stuff taken out to Jen's parents house and then all of our winter stuff back to our house. I am also thinking about putting our Christmas lights on our house. That is the project that I do not like to do each year. Once I am on the roof I am fine but getting up there and getting down is the scariest part. I hope that I can live through getting the lights done to write another post again next week.

Love, Jon/DADA

Center Grove Orchard

On Saturday we headed to the Center Grove Orchard in Cambridge...I call it just outside of Maxwell and the name is Black's Orchard....at least that's what it used to be as I grew up going there in school every year! What a fun fun fun place this is and the boys had a blast! We got there at 1:30 and didn't leave until almost 5! I was glad that mom and dad were up for going with me since Jon was at the Iowa game, we needed the extra hands to carry, help carry goat food, carry coats, and hold hands! Thank you Nana and Papa for going with us!! The boys were sooo excited and had a great time!

{Mama and Jackson and Nana and Joel going down the slide....we walked up and down I swear at LEAST 20 times!! It was sooo much fun...heck, I LOVED it!!!
During the slide rides Jackson spotted the tractors giving hayrack rides and begged and begged to go on it. So we did, it was a little slow and he didn't understand why Papa couldn't drive the tractor, he kept saying "Papa drive, papa drive now! It was cute! What a fun time we had!!

Trick-or-Treat animal style!

On Saturday night we headed out with the Cathcart's and Fuhrman's to stroll around the neighborhood! The boys had soo much fun, the biggest dilemma, who was riding in each wagon with who! We were all surprised at how well each of the boys got the concept of Trick-or-Treating. When they saw the lights on outside the house they'd run up and knock on the door. It was so cute! Well lots of candy was collected and the boys have just been carrying it around in their pumpkins, not really excited about eating it...they must take after their mama and not have much of a sweet tooth!

Pumpkin carving

On Friday after Bass Pro Shop we came home and carved pumpkins. The boys had fun and pulled out all the gooey stuff. They wanted to scrape the sides with the spoon like Jon and I were to clean it out and help cut out the faces. They were excited when we lighted the candles to show them off! And of course they said, "I help" when I wanted to carry them outside and sit them on the step!
