SUYL - Moms of Multiples

A friend sent me the link to Kelly's Korner and the Show Us Your Life (SUYL) story today is about moms of multiples! So I'm linking up in hopes of meeting other moms with twins and HOPEFULLY TWO sets of twins!

If you're stopping over from Kelly's Korner take a look around and come back and visit!

I'm a mom to identical twin boys, Jackson & Joel who are 3. They were born July 25, 2008 at 37 weeks 5 days are were 6 lbs. and 5 lbs. 4 oz. respectively.  I had a perfect pregnancy with them an easy delivery.  2 years later I had fraternal girls, Julianne & Jocelyn on May 16, 2011. They were born at 37 weeks 4 days and were 6 lbs. and 5 lbs. 9 oz.  Again, I had a wonderful pregnancy I was on bedrest at home for 5 weeks and another easy vaginal delivery.   We are soooo blessed with 4 happy and healthy kids!

I quit my corporate job and am learning how to be a stay-at-home mom! I love my new "job" and my kids enjoy being home with me as I do them!

{Jackson, Julianne, Jocelyn & Joel}

Joel

Joel is such a little spit fire!  He sure loves to press all of my buttons but he is also the most loving and protective towards his baby sisters so I guess it evens itself out.

Celebrating dad's birthday

 My dad's birthday was March 10th and we celebrated it that weekend at my Grandma Schauper's house.  I'm such a bad daughter I forgot to post these cute pictures! Anyway...my grandma made a yummy supper (with the help on my hubby on the grill) and we had cake and ice cream. My dad's favorite, German chocolate but my gram makes the best angel food cake so that's what most of us had!

 The boys sure enjoyed playing with my Uncle Larry!
My mom found this neat picture of the Dallas Cowboys stadium, dad thought it was pretty neat too

 Of course, per the boys' request we all had to have party hats. My mom managed to find some from mine and my brother's birthday parties there were trolls on them, remember those hairy little things? And then the one Julianne is wearing Goosebumps...anyone but me ever read those books??

 Of course we all, the boys and dad took turns blowing out the candles. We had a fun night!

Weekend Recap AND Week Preview

We had a busy weekend. I started back to Farrell's Extreme Bodyshaping on Saturday with my orientation and testing for 2 hours Saturday morning.  While I was there Jon took all the kids and went to Lowe's for another of their Build and Grow Workshops. We both got home about the same time and spent the rest of the day outside cleaning out the flowerbeds and he mowed the yard for the first time. The girls took nice long naps and then hung in the sun with their cute little sun hats on while the boys played with the neighbor boys and rode their tractors around and helped with the yard work.  I also put on a "mini" garage sale on Friday and Saturday. It was a great way to get rid of a lot of things before the multiples garage sale this week and make quite a bit of money!

Sunday was my busy photo shoot day, I had 8! We left the house at 8:30 to head to the Botanical Center for 3 sessions and then I had a newborn in the studio followed by 4 families. It was a busy but fun day, I love my little photography job! But now the busy time, editing 8 photo shoots! Jon and the kids played outside all day again, it was beautiful out! He also dug out where our garden will go this year so we're getting ready for that!

Yesterday was my first day of waking up at 3:45AM for my 4:20AM kickboxing class. It wasn't hard waking up, the girls were just up at 2:30AM to nurse but I was really tired at about 10:30! I forgot how great it felt to hit the bag and get back into working out!! I can't wait to shed some weight and get toned again, in perfect time for the pool season!  Last night my mom and I met my coach at Hy-Vee and we spend 2 hours walking around the store taking about good and bad foods, recipes and other helpful tips and then we did some grocery shopping.

Tonight is haircut night for all of us, minus the girls of course. My parents are going to watch the girls while the four of us get all beautified.  The boys are excited to head back to preschool today as well! They can't wait to see all their friend and their teacher Mrs. Lori!  I'm excited to have a little girl time with my babes!

Tomorrow night starts our garage sale duties for the Multiples Garage Sale.  Jon's parents are going to come up to watch the kids while Jon, my parents and I head to Des Moines to work our shift and set up our things to sell.  We'll be down there from 8-10 and then on Thursday mom and I will go shop at 6!

Then Friday night is the first night we don't have anything going on and Saturday I have Farrell's in the morning and then my nutrition seminar there until noon and we have to pick up the stuff that didn't sell at the garage sale by 1.  And then the kids and I are going to head to my parents to stay to help do some yard work and play while Jon has a much needed guys night with Andy and Bryce...who knows what the night/early morning will bring for them.

Hope everyone has a good week! Stay tuned for some pictures of our weekend, playing at the park, the girls 10 month pictures and some other random pictures I want to blog about.

10 months - March 16, 2012

The girls turned 10 months a  week and a half a ago. Because of my little blogging hiatus I didn't get a chance to post an update!
At 10 months Julianne:
* you are walking behind your little push walker and cruising along the furniture
* still wake to nurse at least once in the night
* have pretty much decided you're not eating baby food anymore and only eating real food
* still have NO teeth
* take 2 naps everyday - longer in afternoon
* you love to snuggle when you wake up
* you and your sister love to pester your brothers by pulling yourselves up to their little table
* are 28" tall and weigh 18lbs. 5oz.

At 10 months Jocelyn:
*you walk just a little bit behind your little push walker, you are a little more careful
* wake up to nurse once in the night
* are against eating baby food too, you might share a jar with your sister but that's it
* you have 4 teeth on the top and 2 on the bottom and are working on a couple more!
* love your daddy, as soon as he walks in the door at night you crawl as fast as you can over to him
* are 27 1/4" tall and weight 18lbs.

We love you girls so much and you are growing up so very fast but wouldn't change anything about it!

Too busy...

We've been sooo busy going here and there, playing outside, making crafts that I haven't had  a thought about putting together blog posts! We spent EVERY DAY last week either at the park for lunch or outside playing all day (last week was the first nice week around here).  Every afternoon/evening Jackson and Joel were outside playing with Brady and Luke and the girls were getting use to the grass and hanging out with me on a blanket in the yard.  It's been nice for us adults to catch up with each other too!

I'll try and get some of these pictures I've taken formulated into actual posts!

It's spring break week here and we're off to do more fun stuff and enjoy being outside!!

Fatherhood Friday's

I know it's been awhile since I wrote a post but I'm back and there's been something that has been bothering me.

 As a family we like to get out and go different places and we like to go out to eat as a family. As we go out it has become more and more of a struggle for numerous reasons. All the kids are getting more and more mobile and are interested in more things and going in opposite directions. The boys are really asking questions about stuff and when we are out and about we are trying to teach them new things as well as good manners. It seems like we have turned into a traveling circus. Everywhere we go people comment on our family and how we have 2 sets of twins. The first few times we went out and about after having the girls we thought it was pretty funny and would make comments back to people. We always get a laugh out of people who think they are talking under their breath yet we hear every word, “look 2 sets of twins”, "those people are crazy".

The comment that we enjoy or “dislike” the most is when people ask if they are twins. Then they follow that up with are they all boys or girls? "WHAT was that people?"  No, we just have a boy who is 3 and the other one is 6 but they are the same size and look alike! We dress our girls like girly girls they always have headbands on and pink or purple clothes. Are people just too lazy to actually look at them and notice they are dressed in pink, with bows and pierced ears “yes they are girls!"

The other thing that really gets under a parents skin is when people think they have the right to just touch your kid or think that you need help when you don’t. A perfect example of this was last week when we went for dinner. The restaurant was packed so the girls and I went to sit down and I started feeding them. The line was long so people were standing by our table waiting in line and that distracted the girls, which is fine because there is nothing we can do about that.  I was feeding the girls and they were both looking at this lady and I tried to get their attention to give them another bite and the lady grabs the spoon out of my hand and tries to feed it to MY kids!  WHAT?!?!?  Of course both started crying when a STRANGER (yes lady you are a stranger) tried to feed them and wouldn’t stop till the lady would leave. So after all of that  Jenn gets back to the table with the boys and I was telling her about it and she said that while she was in line she picked up Joel to look at the menu someone just picked up Jackson because he was whining and wanted to be picked up but Jenn wasn’t going to pick him up because she was holding Joel. Again, people you are STRANGERS. I wouldn’t walk into a place and just pick up someone’s kid or try and feed a kid because he was looking at me.

As I am writing this I don't want people to think that we are complaining but people just need to use a little common sense and give us space and our privacy as we do you and your family.  It would also be easy for people to say, "well then don't go out" but we have every right to get our and enjoy life and do things with our family as you do but it seems like it is becoming more and more of a challenge and it is typically not the kids' fault.

Love, Jon/DADA

Bath time...

...is always fun around our house.  I don't know who is more excited for baths, the boys or girls.  Right when we get upstairs the girls immediately crawl over to the tub and pull themselves up and try and get in!
 Jossy loves to suck on the wash rags and Jewels just wants to play with whatever the boys are playing with
 {Julianne}

 {Jackson}
 {Joel}
 {Jocelyn}
 After the girls get out the boys "swim" for a little bit.  Jon took the girls into our room and no more than got them dried off and they scurried back into the bathroom to check out their brothers...too cute!!

Jackson asked me to take some pictures of him this weekend, like he does about every day and little Miss Julianne brought her baby and came in for the fun too.

 ahh...he loves his sister!

9 months - February 16, 2012

The girls FINALLY had their 9 month appointment late last week.  I wanted to wait to post these pictures until I had their official stats.
 Dr. Schutte said all was good with the girls and they are surpassing all their 9 month milestones.  They are great eaters and prefer adult food to their baby food jars so they are mostly eating what we're eating and still nursing well 3 times a day.

Mr. Joel

Joel is our little spit fire, the sassiest of them all!

He is also a people pleaser...especially to Jackson, whatever Jackson asks for Joel will give him

Joel LOVES LOVES LOVES to paint we paint at least once a day

Has mastered zipping up his own coat and putting on his own seatbelt in the car, he is sooo proud and can't wait to tell his preschool teacher today!

Within the last few month he has become sooo protective of his sisters.  If they get too close to the stairs he lays on the floor to "block the track" so they don't fall down

Joel loves to wrestle with Jackson and daddy on the floor every night!

He runs soo many circles around the house everyday if we had carpet there would be a cow path

Is a lover of preschool! He writes his name so well, minus the backwards "e" but has improved so much since the beginning of the year.

All his pictures he colors/paints/markers he has to hang them up on our craft hooks

Everytime we go over the train tracks in the car he says, "no cars go on choo choo tracks, trains go on choo choo tracks" EVERY.SINGLE.TIME!!

Joel is scared to go downstairs or anywhere new without his big brother Jackson

He loves going to the library and asks to check out the same movie each week!

Joely is a great napper like his brother, thankfully!

His favorite activity, building train tracks all around the kitchen and dining room and back, using up every piece of track we have!

Our first born, Jackson

Jackson is the leader of the pack/mother hen/boss/any name you can think of for a leader he is!

He is becoming sooo independent which is VERY helpful!

Jackson is improving so much on writing his name, his letter "c" is always backwards but other than that it looks great!

The boys are now in the high back booster seats with a seat belt in the 3rd row and they can now buckle their own seatbelts which means I don't have to climb in through the trunk to buckle them!

Jackson LOVES preschool, everyday he wakes up and says "today peeschool day?"

Is a huge fan of crafting!

Loves to paint and wear his apron

Is a HUGE helper in the kitchen, can clear his spot at the table, empty his plate in the sink, and load it in the dishwasher!

Still naps 2-2.5 hours everyday (all 4 are down at the same time) and still has to sleep in a different room than Joel for his nap

Is on a kick of having his pictures taken, everytime I have my camera out for a session he wants pictures taken of him too! We've had a lot of crazy studio picture days here lately!

Is sooo bossy to Joel and make Joel do whatever he says and little brother to my dismay complies with all of his requests!

Plays with his trains for at least half of the day!

LOVES all Disney movies, the newest favorites, Aladdin, Tangled & Beauty and the Beast

Is already proving to be a "typical boy that eats all the time" I hear at least 4-6 times a day, "mama me so hungry" he's a bottomless pit!

Is becoming a great helper with his little sisters, he always asks and makes sure they are ready to go with us with we leave or makes sure they aren't getting into something they aren't supposed to.

Jackson's favorite word, "why"? Asked at least 50 times a day; he sure is learning!

Jackson is such a sweet boy who has good manners and for the most part listens well and behaves when out in public, he sure makes it look like we're doing something right!

He LOVES his "jammie day monday" this is a ritual each week, we make it a point to try not to leave the house on Mondays (since we're committed doing something every other day) and we all stay in our jammies!

Jackson enjoys going to the library each week to play with the train table, participate in storytime and do a craft and pick out new books and movies each week to bring home.
